Introduction
I got this idea while my mom was watching this really cliche movie. I don’t know if this has been done before or not, but hopefully, if it has, mine will be different. This is a story-based set of mini-challenges focused around breaking cliches! You don’t have to do them all and you can mix and match as much as you want. I will be adding goals to each challenge, but feel free to change them or ignore them if you want ^-^
If you have any ideas or suggestions for goals or more cliches, please comment and let me know or send me a message on the forums – here is my profile.
Another note – you don’t have to create the other families if you don’t want, feel free to use an existing family or one from the gallery!
Cliche 1 – Best Friend’s Sibling
* The Cliche: Your sim falls in love with their best friend’s older sibling.
* The Set Up:Β To begin, create your sim family. You can choose your parental situation (same sex, single parent, mom and dad, etc.), and you can create any siblings you want. Your main sim should be a teenager (or if you want a longer challenge, start with a child sim). After moving in your family, select one of the houses in your neighborhood and choose to create a new family to move in. The same as before, the parents are irrelevant, but the family must have a sim the same age as your main sim. This will be your best friend! They can have any siblings, but they must have an older sibling (you can make them a young adult OR you can make them a teen as well and say they are older) that ultimately falls in love with your sim.
* The Goals:
- The first thing you should do is become best friends with the neighbor sim.
- If you want to play both families, you’re more than welcome!
- If you start off with a child, wait until they age up to a teen. You can let them age naturally or choose when to age them up. Remember that your best friend must age with you!
- When your sim ages up to teen, you can either play at the other family and make the sibling flirt with your sim OR you can flirt with the sibling to get them interested.
- The rest of the story is up to you! You can choose to start dating the sibling and then realize what kind of person they are OR you can show no interest at all. It’s completely up to you ^-^
Cliche 2 – Best Friend Unrequited Love
* The Cliche: Your sim’s best friend falls in love with them but your sim doesn’t return their feelings.
* The Set Up:Β To begin, create your sim family. You can choose your parental situation (same sex, single parent, mom and dad, etc.), and you can create any siblings you want. Your main sim can be a teenager (or if you want a longer challenge, start with a child sim). After moving in your family, select one of the houses in your neighborhood and choose to create a new family to move in. The same as before, the parents are irrelevant, but the family must have a sim the same age as your main sim. This will be your best friend!
* The Goals:
- The first thing you should do is become best friends with the neighbor sim.
- If you want to play both families, you’re more than welcome!
- If you start off with a child, wait until they age up to a teen. You can let them age naturally or choose when to age them up. Remember that your best friend must age with you!
- When your sim ages up to a teen, you can choose to play the best friend and make them flirt with your sim OR you can have your sim flirt with them to gain their interest.
- The ultimate goal is to fall in love with your best friend and get married!
Cliche 3 – Enemies to Lovers
* The Cliche: Your sim and another have been enemies for ages, but your enemy suddenly starts to fall in love with you.
* The Set Up: Create your family and main sim. If you want a longer challenge, start with a child sim! Create another family with a sim the same age, this will be your enemy!
* The Goals:
- Become enemies with the neighbor sim, declaring them your enemy.
- If you want, you can play as the second family to make that sim flirt and fall for you OR you can start flirting with them to get them interested.
- You can lead them on and then crush them or you can reject them altogether!
Cliche 4 – Villain With A Backstory
* The Cliche: A villain only became evil because of a tragic backstory.
* The Set Up: Create your sim or family. Your sim can be any age, but they should have the mean and evil traits, the public enemy aspiration and join the criminal career. Create another sim – this will be the “good guy” or police officer that is always chasing after your sim!
* The Goals:
- Be as evil and mean as possible to everyone you meet!
- Cause death and destruction wherever you go! (Mods are recommended to easily kill off sims, but not required as a poorly made dish of pufferfish works just as well!)
- The good guy sim believes that your sim is only evil because of something tragic that happened in their past and constantly tries to help you.
- You have no tragic backstory, you just think it’s fun to be mean!
- Reach the top of the criminal career and become enemies with the good guy – killing him/her is your decision!
Cliche 5 – Immortal Love
* The Cliche:Β An immortal being (vampire) falls in love with your sim and decides to give up their immortality to live with them OR your sim decides to give up their mortality to live with them.
* The Set Up: Depending on which path you choose, create your sim and make them a human or a vampire. If you go human, create a vampire sim and move them into the neighborhood. If you go vampire, create a human.
* The Goals:
- Meet the other sim and become good friends with them first.
- Once friends, you can start your romantic relationship.
- Once the romantic bar is filled up, you tell the other sim you want to spend your life with them.
- If you’re a vampire, the human sim asks you to give up your immortality – you refuse.
- If you’re a human, the vampire sim asks you to give up your mortality – you refuse.
- Break up and move on with your life!
Cliche 6 – Fortune Tellers Are Always Right
* The Cliche: Your sim visits a fortune teller and they tell your sim that something awful is going to happen to them. Despite taking all the precautions possible, it happens anyway because, as it turns out, your precautions made it happen!
* The Set Up: Create your sim, move them in and then create the “fortune teller”.
* The Goals:
- Visit the fortune teller during a festival. Your sim doesn’t believe in it, but does it for shits and giggles.
- The fortune teller foretells of a terrible event that will happen in the next month. Her seriousness makes your sim paranoid.
- Upon returning home, your sim makes a bunch of preparations to prevent this from happening.
- After a month and a half passes without any sign of said event, you curse yourself for falling for the scheme.
- Feel free to return and let the fortune teller know what you think!
Cliche 7 – Royal Arrangement
* The Cliche: Your sim’s parents arranged a marriage for whatever reason and both of the sims oppose. They are later sent on an adventure together and start to fall in love.
* The Set Up: Create your family – they can be royals, modern royals, or just a random arrangement for whatever reason you see fit. Once your family is moved in, make the second family and move them into the same neighborhood. I suggest your sim’s partner is the same age, but feel free to make them younger or older.
* The Goals:
- Have the second family over for dinner – the arrangement is announced.
- Your sim and the partner are moved into a place of their own.
- Your sims should dislike each other, but they don’t have to be enemies.
- Take a trip with the two sims – if you have Jungle Adventure or Outdoor Retreat, choose one of those. If not, just go to a restaurant or something!
- During the trip, do nothing but mean interactions, making the relationship worse.
- Upon returning to your home, get divorced or have your partner die mysteriously.
Cliche 8 – Rich and Poor
* The Cliche:Β Your sim, who is dirt poor, is propositioned by a sim who is filthy rich OR your sim, who is filthy rich, falls in love with a sim who is dirt poor.
* The Set Up: Decide which path you want to take and create your family accordingly. Rich sim should be a snob and materialistic. Poor sim should be ambitious and good.Β Once moved in, create a family that is the opposite. If you’re rich, you should live in a mansion and have loads of money. If you’re poor, you should live in the smallest, most rundown house possible and have no more than $1,000 to your name.
* The Goals:
- By some strange coincidence, the two sims meet in the same place.
- The rich sim should always be the one to fall for the poor sim’s personality.
- The poor sim has no interest because the rich sim has a shit personality.
- They become enemies and the rich sim goes out of their way to make the poor sim miserable, but the poor sim isn’t bothered.
- Choose how the story ends!
Cliche 9 – Stepmothers Are Evil
* The Cliche:Β Your sim’s parent loses their partner (whether by death or divorce) and falls in love with another, who turns out to be evil and cruel towards the child.
* The Set Up: Create your family. You can start whole and have one of your parents die off/divorce or you can start with them already out of the picture. Your sim should be a child with the bookworm and creative traits. Feel free to add pets and siblings. Once your family is moved in, choose your new stepmom and move her into the neighborhood – she should have the good and family-oriented traits.
* The Goals:
- Have your parent meet their new wife and start dating.
- After three dates, bring the woman home and announce that they are getting married.
- Your sim reacts negatively because they had read many fairy tales and in every story, the stepmother is evil and cruel to the children. Your sim believes this is so.
- Your sim’s mom moves in and tries to have a relationship with her new kids.
- Your sim realizes that she is very kind and loving.
- The ultimate goal is to become best friends with your new mom!
Cliche 10 – The Con or Love
* The Cliche: Your sim meets and falls in love with another sim. It turns out that sim is a con-artist that planned on stealing your sim’s money! The con is given up when that sim falls in love with your sim. You can also reverse the roles.
* The Set Up: Create your sim or family and move them in. Create the other sim and move them in. The con artist should have the materialistic and kleptomaniac traits and a job in the criminal career.
* The Goals:
- Have the two sims meet – the non-con-artist is the one who falls for the con artist.
- Reach max romance level with the sim – if you play the con-artist, steal at least 10-15 or more household items from the sim.
- Move in, get engaged, but do not marry.
- Through some twist of fate, the sim finds out about the con-artist and the plan to rob him/her. They assume the con-artist will give up the con since they love them.
- The sim is wrong and the con-artist disappears or kills the sim.
Final Thoughts
I hope you guys enjoy this challenge. I know it’s not traditional in the goals, and I worry a bit about that, but there are so many challenges out there that dictate every aspect of your legacy/challenge that I wanted to leave it open-ended so people could make their own stories and plot twists.
The most important thing is that you have fun!
You don’t have to follow these examples – it’s just as great if it inspires you to do your own thing! ^-^
Love a themed challenge. This one looks pretty interesting π
